I’ve always been passionate about fostering genuine connections and supporting others in their personal growth.

Growing up in Bright’s Grove, I developed a deep appreciation for community and its impact on mental well-being. My path to psychotherapy, though not a straight line, began after I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies and English from Wilfrid Laurier University in 2017, followed by a Master of Media in Journalism and Communication from Western University in 2018. After several years in marketing and communications, I realized something was missing. It was through my relationship with my own therapist that I discovered my true calling in psychotherapy. I’m currently completing my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.

My therapeutic approach is rooted in the belief that everyone’s story is important. I strive to create a compassionate and collaborative space where clients feel truly heard and supported as they navigate life’s challenges. I take a strengths-based, person-centered, and trauma-informed approach, incorporating elements of narrative therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), somatic therapies, and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). I recognize that therapy isn’t “one-size-fits-all,” so I tailor my approach to each client’s unique needs.

I work with clients on a variety of concerns, including anxiety, life transitions, relationship dynamics, self-esteem, and stress management. My goal is to empower individuals to connect with their inner resilience, facilitating meaningful change and building long-term therapeutic relationships that can support them through various life stages.

Outside of my work at Inner Calm, I enjoy spending time with my dog, practicing yoga, reading, and engaging in outdoor mindfulness practices, all of which help me stay grounded and connected to my own self-awareness journey.

I look forward to walking alongside you as you explore your path toward healing and growth.

Practicum September 2024 - April 2025

Having experience in multiple areas of the mental health field I have a niche in supporting clients with dual diagnosis, disabilities (neurodivergent), and trauma. Having my background in Disability Studies I use an intersectional lens that steers away from the medical model of trying to ‘fix’ someone to fit into societies expectations. Instead, I focus on a disability justice approach that supports people in finding their place in the world and how they can flourish there. I also have experience working with people that come from trauma, such as childhood trauma, one incident trauma or generational trauma. Trauma can look like so many different things, such as bullying, an unavailable parent, sexual coercion/abuse, etc. I use an approach that focuses on calming the nervous system and bringing it back into regulation in order to safely work through this trauma.

I am here to provide clients with a judgement free space that allows them to feel heard and seen. Beginning counselling can feel uncomfortable and bring on feelings of anxiety, I too have experienced those feelings before. I have learned through my own mental health journey that although the anxiety might come, to always keep in mind the positives. I welcome you to think of those positives that may come from your mental wellness journey and reach out so we can further discuss how I may be able to support you.

Growing up I’ve always had a passion for supporting others. This started with my work at Community Living Sarnia Lambton supporting children with disabilities and mental health struggles. Since then my strive towards helping has grown and grown. I have completed my degree (BA) in Disability Studies from Toronto Metropolitan University and am currently a Masters of Counselling Psychology candidate and a Registered Qualifying Psychotherapist (#17139) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.

I have learned and grown as a counsellor through my education and my real world experience, living and learning around the world and meeting people from all walks of life. My goal is to provide the community with various supports that will not only support my clients but Sarnia as a whole. This world is a very challenging place and we need to help those around us as best as we can.

As a counsellor I like to use a trauma informed holistic approach to support my clients. My studies has supported me in understanding each person as a whole and how drastically important it is to not only focus on thoughts and feelings but about the body, mind and soul connection. The body can be a powerful tool in identifying triggers and supporting calmness and I love to explore this using mindfulness and somatic approaches with my clients.

People need safety before anything else to be able to properly explore past history, trauma or to see through current issues. Whether the client needs mental, physical or emotional safety I am here to support them in finding that. Once that safety is found I use a collaborative approach with my clients in exploring what areas from various therapies that can be used to support them on their journey. I draw from many approaches, more specifically I tend to lean into somatic therapy, mindfulness based approaches, strengths based therapy, person center approach, dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). I encourage my clients in choosing their own therapeutic path by providing them with education about these approaches so they can make an informed decision about their own care.

I bring a unique blend of academic expertise and real-world passion to my work.

My journey in supporting the mental well-being of others officially began at King's University College, where I earned a BA in Thanatology (the study of grief and bereavement) and Childhood and Social Institutions (a children’s advocacy program).

While growing up in Sarnia, Ontario, I've always been deeply connected to my community, especially in matters related to supporting mental well-being. This drive to contribute to the betterment of individuals and families has been a driving force in my psychotherapy journey.

My therapeutic approach is rooted in the belief that each person's journey is unique and deserves to be met with empathy and understanding. I strive to create a safe and collaborative space where clients can explore their challenges, identify their goals, and work towards achieving them.

I view my role as a psychotherapist as one of support and guidance, following the client's lead. I see value in integrating elements of mindfulness, self-awareness and gratitude into our sessions. I tailor my approach to meet the individual needs of each client.

I take a person-centered, strengths-based, and trauma-informed approach while drawing from principles of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

My goal is to offer a neutral space to explore a variety of concerns, including grief, loss, life changes and transitions, self-esteem, anxiety, depression and general life stressors.

I am able to work with ages 10 and older.

Outside of my work with Inner Calm Counselling, I also dedicate my time to supporting grieving children at St. Joseph's Hospice. This experience has enriched my understanding of loss and reinforced my commitment to providing compassionate and effective therapy.

In my spare time, I prioritize my own mindfulness and self-awareness journey through journaling, reading, and connecting with my body through regular movement.

I look forward to the opportunity to journey alongside you as you navigate life's challenges and discover your inner strength and resilience.

I am a Master of Arts Counselling Psychology candidate, and Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (# 15199). I am currently qualified to practice under clinical supervision and am thrilled to be joining Inner Calm Counselling for  the practicum portion of my journey to full licensure. In addition to these qualifications, I am a member in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers (# 641993). I currently work as an elementary Occasional Teacher for the Lambton Kent District School Board and a private tutor for students in my area.

I earned my Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree from Queen’s University in 2005, a diploma in Behavioural Science Technology from St. Lawrence College in 2006, and Bachelor of Education from Wilfrid Laurier University in 2013. I pride myself in being a lifelong learner. While completion of my master’s degree in December 2024 will mean the realization of my educational goals, my professional training and development will continue. I look forward to building a practice which blends my disciplinary backgrounds and am particularly interested in working with students (children/youth aged 10+), their families, and educators.

Until recently, my career was set in a correctional environment. I have over 15 years’ experience working in behaviour change, mental health, and education with incarcerated persons. This has left me comfortable and equipped to support those struggling with a variety of issues including problematic behaviour and addiction, major mental illness, poor emotion regulation and coping, grief and loss, trauma and abuse, negative peer and family relationships, suicidal ideation, and self-harm. I am skilled at both individual and group-level intervention.

My work has been based in behavioural and social learning techniques, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI). Undoubtedly, these approaches will influence my future practice. However, I recognize the uniqueness of every person and understand the importance of tailoring treatment to individual needs. Working with me, you can expect a person-centered, respect-focused, and eclectic style. All therapeutic relationships will be grounded in humaneness and humanness.

Outside of work, I am a wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. These are some of my most important roles. I am also a volunteer, involved with various activities related to school/education, child and youth mental health, and healthy leisure.

Having recently returned to the area, I am happy to serve the community that I love. I am eager to continue this as a registered mental health professional, and excited to see where this can take us.
If you have any questions about working with me, please reach out. If you feel we are a good match, the Contact Us form can be used to request an initial consultation or session. I look forward to working with you.
